Switch to a Professional account and connect Instagram
SyncRelay works with Instagram Creator and Business accounts. Here is how to switch for free and connect your account.
SyncRelay uses Instagram's official API for business messaging. Instagram only allows that API on Professional accounts (Creator or Business). Switching is free, takes about a minute, and you keep your followers, posts and username.
Switch to a Professional account
In the Instagram app:
- Open your profile and tap the menu (☰) in the top corner.
- Tap Settings and activity, then Account type and tools.
- Tap Switch to professional account.
- Pick a category, then choose Creator (best for most creators) or Business (for shops and brands).
Instagram sometimes renames these menus between app versions. If you can't find them, search Instagram's settings for "professional account".
Connect Instagram to SyncRelay
- Create your free account or sign in with your email.
- When you see Connect Your Instagram Account, tap Connect Instagram.
- Log in to Instagram and allow the permissions it asks for.
SyncRelay asks Instagram for three permissions:
- Basic profile: your username and profile picture, so you can see which account is connected.
- Messages: to send the DMs your automations set up, and to show your inbox on Pro.
- Comments: to see comments on your posts and reply to them.
